The Owl Babies

18th Nov 2024

In Primary 1 we have been focusing on the story of ‘The Owl Babies’.

We have been very busy retelling the story in the Role Play Area and Small World Area using puppets and props. In our Investigation Area we have also been investigating and exploring light and dark using mirrors and a light box. Primary 1 have also been using their senses to explore natural materials such as pinecones, acorns, sticks, leaves and conkers. In the Creative Area we have been creating Owls using modelling clay and feathers, pipe cleaners and googly eyes to decorate. Primary 1 have also been developing their fine motor skills by using pegs and sponges to create Owl paintings. We also made bird feeders using toilet roll tubes, bird seed, lard and string. We then hung them outside in the Nurture Garden for the birds to eat.

For Snack we also made made owl toast. We used chocolate spread on the bread to represent the body, we used bananas and blueberries for the eyes, a strawberry for the beak and either oranges or apples for the wings. We loved the taste of the strawberries but thought the blueberries were a little sour!
