Christmas 🎄🎅🏻

16th Dec 2024

Lots of very excited children in P1 as they were very busy helping to get our classroom ready for Christmas. The children were busy decorating the Christmas tree, wrapping presents and making decorations. We were also exploring where polar bears live and observed some ice melting.

We were also learning about the Christmas Story in task time. We made a paper plate angel with lots of glitter. We learnt about the special news Angel Gabriel told Mary; we sequenced the story and had some quiet colouring time.

In our writing we made postcards and posted them. We learned about a stamp and our address so the postman would know where to take it. We are getting really good at writing our letter sounds and some words.

In Numeracy we were focusing on sorting snow men using a Carroll diagram. We continued to focus on negation and had to sort for one criterion for example, red/not red, hat/no hat. We also talked about the arrangement of the snow men and answered questions.

On Friday we had our Christmas Fun Day! We had lots of fun watching a Christmas movie - The Grinch. We decorated gingerbread men with icing and sprinkles and we also made a Christmas craft.
Our Fun Day finished off with lots of bouncing on the bouncy castle… even adults enjoyed it too!
